[ STATEMENT ]
SUNUS is radical project that creates new dimension of music by making exploration and innovative hacks in existing sound spaces.
SUNUS work is crossing many music spaces as stochastic, spectral music , musique concrete, musica futurista, noise.
Radically disrupting the very language of these systems, including rules, commands, errors and codes, SUNUS stages extreme interventions that destabilize the existing music production.
SUNUS use asymmetric and 'chaotic' patterns the exhibit more hidden symmetry and powerful music and light structures.
SUNUS work occupies a unique space in that it to examine the cultural intersections of contemporary music, critical art, and programming. A core SUNUS practice is a search for a new and hidden structures and compositions.
[ MEMBERS ]
ROBERT B. LISEK is an artist, composer and mathematician who works at the truly cutting-edge vanguard of arts and media, a founder of FUNDAMENTAL RESEARCH LAB; he is involved in the number of projects focused on radical art strategies, hacktivism and artificial intelligence. Drawing upon conceptual and software art, telepresence, robotics, meta-media, criticism of new media art, and introducing numerous additional influences from mathematic, his work intentionally defies categorization. A pioneer of art based on AI. His visionary combination of AI and telepresence explores the possibility of building distributed intelligent entities. In the last project Das GESPENST explores the relationship between bio-molecular technology, code and issues arising from network technologies. With reference to the emerging practice of ‘biotech-art’, the artist aims to represent the self-replicating behavior of new original bacteria in order to draw out its wider bio-political significance in an imagined scenario of bioterrorism. He is also a scientist connected with the Department of Logic of Wroclaw University specializing in the theory of partially-ordered sets. He exhibits, lectures, and conducts workshops worldwide. His projects include among others: FLOAT – Lower Manhattan Cultural Council,NY; WWAI- Siggraph, Los Angeles; Falsecodes - Red Gate Gallery & Planetary Collegium, Beijing; GENGINE- Zacheta National Gallery, Warsaw; FLEXTEXT- CiberArt Bilbao, Medi@terra - Byzantine Museum, Athens, STACK- RunMe-Moscow, Ars Electronica- Linz; FLEXTEXT – ACA Media Festival, Tokyo; STACK – ISEA 02, Nagoya; SSSPEAR –17th Meridian, WRO Center for Media Arts, Wroclaw, HAPPY NEW FEAR – FluxusOnline, New Horizonte; ODER- Graz, Dusseldorf, Athens, Paris, Tokyo, Palermo, Istambul...
GERARD LEBIK - critical music artist, composer, sound inspector, saxophone and contralto clarinet jazz player (Jazz Institute Academy of Music Breslau 2006). A founder of projects: SLUG DUO, FOTON, ERASE and cofounder of SUNUS. SLUG DUO - experimental electroacoustic duo: Gerard Lebik- tenor sax, contr alto clarinet, generators, computer and Jakub Suchar-drums ,computer. CD EMFP 01 compilation to WIRE Magazin. FOTON - group came into existence as a result of a monochromatic heliography process. The appliance of this process on an acoustic jazz quartet playing original improvised music lead to creating a new conception of sound and form granting equal rights to both improvisations and permanent elements of composition. members: gerard lebik - tenor sax, bass clarinet, artur majewski - trumpet, jakub cywinski - bass, wojciech romanowski - drums. CD: foton start up 2002 foton zomo hall 2008. ERASE - creative improvised music art. The meeting of the musicians from band took place in the University of Music in Wroclaw in 2005. Seeking for common aesthetic and conceptive patterns bore fruit in arising of the duet: Michal Trela – drums and Gerard Lebik – saxophone. They realized that the idea of their music based on linear saxophone patterns and polyrhythm deriving from free jazz tradition can be expanded to achieve the completeness of the sound. Thus, the appearance of the third member of the band, double bass – Jakub Cywinski. ERASE cooperates with the trumpeter Piotr Damasiewicz. CD erase 2006.rec OPT. ZOPAN Hypotrochoid -live act amplitude frequency modulation on square wave sine wave triangle wave sawtooth wave and spliting aliquot tones woodwind instrument. tools: multifunction generator 0,0005 Hz-100kHz type KZ 1406 .selmer contr alto clarinet. gerard lebik - contra alto clarinet, genereators. EMERGE- Emerge Improvisers Ensamble is collective explore chain of dependence between modern acoustic jazz, electroacoustic music and free improvisation. Emerge play regular composition and open improvisation. members: gerard lebik-generators, computers, contr alto clarine, reeds, david frydryk-trumpets, wojciech romwnowski - drums, percussion.
[ STRATEGIES ]
The composed entities and structures have modular dynamic form. In order to produce different intervallic structures and frequency spaces SUNUS use processes that include variables and nonlinear transformations. SUNUS use asymmetric and 'chaotic' patterns the exhibit more hidden symmetry and powerful music structures.
As mathematician Lisek use techniques related to probability theory, stochastic processes, statistics, group theory, game theory, partially ordered set theory, and other branches of mathematics. He use advanced low level programming and numeric data from biotechnology e.x. DNA self-replication data. His works exploits bugs and glitches in the code to create dirty, jolting loops , artificial entities and viruses.
SUNUS practice includes also strategies as an direct and distributed intervention, critical injections in social post-communist and capitalistic environment. It prepare provocation, pamphlets, crashing and another methods for understanding and 'changing' social rules. Radically disrupting the very language of these systems, including rules, commands, errors and codes SUNUS stages extreme digital interventions that destabilize the relationship between computer technology and its users.

[ SOFTWARE_HARDWARE_HACKS ]
SUNUS hacks some machines as: laboratory measure engines, ultra high and low frequencies generators, beat and impulse generators, noise generators, oscilloscopes, sonars, antenna systems, spectrum analyzers, synthesizers, games consoles, computing machines.
SUNUS hacks also software as PD, SuperCollider, low level programming, plus other stuff for FFT, Nyqist transformations Essyth, Granular Synthesis, Additive and Subtractive Synthesis, Frequency modulation Synthesis.
